The #11 Scottsdale Community College men's basketball team fell 85-63 to #6 Orange County (NY) in the opening game of the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship in Danville, Ill.

SCC led by as many as five early in the first half and were up 19-16 with 9:28 remaining in the opening stanza. From there, Orange County would outscore the Artichokes 26-11 to take a 42-30 lead into the break. OC would score the first nine points of the second half to pull away and secure a quarterfinal spot.

For SCC, Cameron Faas led the way with 15 points. UU Turay added 14. Tyree Tyler finished the night with a double-double, scoring 12 points, while pulling down 13 rebounds.

The Artichokes now enter the consolation bracket where they will face #14 Arkansas State University Mid South in Danville. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. (AZ time). Go to NJCAA.org for video ($) and live stats links to follow.
