Davis Drops 28 to Lead SCC in Season Opener
Mia Davis, a transfer from San Diego State University, introduced herself in grand fashion tonight, scoring 28 points in Scottsdale's season opening 69-56 win over GCU Club at Phoenix College.
The Artichokes led 25-23 at the half, before pulling away in the second half.
Sophomore Vanessa Sepulveda scored 19 points, 13 coming in the second half. Davis had 14 of her 28 in the fourth quarter. Sepulveda also grabbed 11 boards, Davis had nine.
Dianalynn Howell in her first game as an Artichoke posted a 10 point, three assist, three steals and two blocks night.
Scottsdale enters the season ranked No. 21 in the NJCAA Preseason Division II Women's Basketball Poll. Rivals Pima and Mesa came in No. 2 and No. 6, respectively.
SCC has little rest before they return to floor, as they face Park JV at 12 p.m. tomorrow at Phoenix College.
