Legendary Head Coach Regina Mannix Announces Retirement; Lozano Elevated to Head Coach

Legendary volleyball head coach Regina Mannix today announced that she would stepping down from her position as she moves into retirement.

"Regina has been the cornerstone of Scottsdale Community College volleyball and a mainstay in the fabric of athletics in the Valley," said Director of Athletics, Mike McNally. "Her passionate dedication to so many student-athletes will reverberate for decades to come. It has been a privilege to work alongside of her and I'm extremely happy for her as she enters into the next phase of her life."

Mannix has been with Scottsdale for 33 years, 31 spent as the head coach. In her tenure at SCC, she has been named to the Halls of Fame with the NJCAA, ACCAC and most recently with Arizona State University Athletics.

With Scottsdale, Mannix recorded an all-time record of 714-285 for a .715 wining percentage. Her 714 wins are 15th most in the history of the NJCAA. Mannix led the Artichokes to the 2019 NJCAA Division II National Championship and were the NJCAA Division II National Runners-Up in both 2022 and 2023. She was also at the helm for 10 NJCAA Region 1 championships and five ACCAC conference titles.

Even more so than her on court success, Mannix has been a department leader in academics. Her programs were frequently the best in the department and were once again this past year with an incredible 3.49 GPA. Eight of her student-athletes this past season earned NJCAA All-Academic Awards, given to those that finish with a 3.6 or higher GPA.

Everyone at Scottsdale Community extends the deepest of thanks to Coach Mannix for her decades of service to so many student-athletes and her many contributions to SCC.

In a corresponding announcement, SCC has named Sarah Lozano as its head volleyball coach for the 2025 season. The Grand Canyon alum has been an assistant coach under Mannix for the past three seasons. Lozano has been a successful coach with Arizona Sky Volleyball Academy and made additional coaching stops at Arizona Christian University, Liberty High School and Club Arrowhead Volleyball.
