Softball Earns Split at South

The Scottsdale softball team earned a doubleheader split today at South Mountain.

The Cougars took game one 7-0. They scored three runs in the first and fourth innings. Grace Jump (11-6) started for SCC and took the loss. She allowed five runs on seven hits over 3.0 innings. Scottsdale mustered only four hits, including a double from Bailey Domniguez.

Scottsdale raced out to an 11-1 lead in game two, before hanging on for the 11-9 victory. Isabelle Aguirre (7-7) earned the win. She allowed seven runs, five earned on 11 hits. Dominguez had three hits and two RBI. Mackenzie Larson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Sydnee Levandowski and Kim Hernandez homered for SCC.

Scottsdale is now 24-17 overall and 19-17 in the ACCAC. They moved 3.0 games ahead of Glendale for the fourth and final NJCAA Region I playoff spot.

Next up is a showdown with Glendale on Saturday, April 26. First pitch of the doubleheader is 12 p.m. The games will mark the final home contests of the season for the Artichokes.
