
Softball Wins Fifth Straight
Scottsdale softball ran their winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep of Mesa today at SCC.
SCC improves to 23-14 overall and 18-14 in the league. They now own a 3.0 game lead over Glendale for the fourth and final Region I playoff spot. There are 10 games left in the regular season.
In game one, SCC beat Mesa 10-2 in five innings. Grace Jump (11-4) got the win, going the distance, allowing two runs on two hits. She fanned eight. Tati Solano led the offense with a 3-for-3 effort, with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Bailey Dominguez and Sydnee Levandowski also homered.
The second game was also a five-inning affair, this time with the Artichokes winning 9-0. Isabelle Aguirre (6-6) pitched 5.0 scoreless innings, scattering two hits. Scottsdale pounded out 12 hits. Dominguez went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored. She had two home runs. Mackenzie Larson, Alexandria Armstrong and Baily Nichols each had two hits.
Scottsdale is now off until Saturday, April 19 when they will host Pima in a doubleheader that begins at 12 p.m.
