
6-Run First for South Dooms Artichokes
South Mountain scored six runs in the first inning to lead them to a 13-5 win over Scottsdale today at SCC.
The Artichokes are now 26-21 overall and 16-17 in the ACCAC. With Chandler-Gilbert's win over Gateway, SCC is now 4.0 games back of the fourth and final Region I playoff spot with seven games remaining in the season.
Brandon Kosel (5-3) started and took the loss. He allowed seven earned runs on seven hits over 4.0 innings. SCC had nine hits in the contest, getting two from Hank Smith and Elijah Morales.
Scottsdale will travel to Paradise Valley on Tuesday, April 15. First pitch is at 3 p.m. The Artichokes have taken three of four from the Pumas this season.
