
Softball Sweeps CG; Moves Back to Fourth
The Scottsdale softball team picked up a pair of shutouts today in a doubleheader sweep of Chandler-Gilbert at SCC.
The Artichokes are now 18-13 overall and 13-13 in the ACCAC. They moved a game ahead of Glendale for fourth in the conference.
Grace Jump (7-3) pitched a 7.0 inning shutout in game one to give SCC a 5-0 win. She scattered four hits and struck out seven with no walks. Scottsdale scored four runs in the third. At the plate, Kim Hernandez went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Sydnee Levandowski, Leah Montes and Nina Slater each had two hits.
The Artichokes scored five in the third enroute to a 9-0 win in five innings in game two. Isabelle Aguirre (5-6) tossed 5.0 innings, allowing only four hits. She fanned five and walked one. Levandowski went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, four RBI and a home run to pace the offense.
Up next is a visit from conference leader and No. 6 ranked Phoenix College on Tuesday, April 1. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. PC swept SCC in their previous doubleheader this season.
