Eighth Inning Run Propels SCC Past PC
For the ninth time this season, Scottsdale baseball won the second game of a two-game conference set, today defeating Phoenix 7-6.
Scottsdale is now 22-18 overall and 12-16 in the ACCAC.
The Artichokes held a 6-3 lead before the Bears tied it in the top of the eighth. Scottdale took the lead back with a run in the bottom of the frame to give them the win.
SCC pounded out 11 hits, led by Phoenix West's 3-for-5 day. He also had an RBI and three runs scored. Scottsdale received two hits each from Hank Smith, Chris Ricard and Zach Butler. Smith also drew three walks. Andrew Filimoehala (3-1) recorded the win, entering the game in the eighth inning. Hank Smith pitched a perfect ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season.
Scottsdale returns to the diamond on April 1 when they travel to Gene Autry Park to face Gateway. First pitch is 3 p.m.
