Women's Hoops Defeat GCC; Sets Up Crucial Tilt With Pima

The #25 Scottsdale women's basketball team used a strong third quarter to defeat Glendale 64-42 tonight at GCC.

The Artichokes are now 17-8 overall and 13-4 in the conference.

Glendale led 14-13 after one quarter, but SCC bounced back to take a 29-23 advantage into the half. The Artichokes outscored the Gauchos 21-7 in the third to put the game out of reach.

Vanessa Sepulveda had 16 points to lead Scottsdale.

The victory sets up a winner take all matchup with Pima in Tucson on Saturday, March 1. The Aztecs are 14-3 in conference this season. Pima and Scottsdale are already locked into facing each other in the Region I semifinal next week. Saturday's winner will earn the No. 2 seed and the right to host. Tipoff for this crucial game this weekend is 2 p.m. Mesa has locked in the top seed for the tournament and will host their semifinal against either Phoenix or Glendale. The semifinal matchups will take place on Thursday, March 6.
