
Tremendous Season Comes to a Close for Women's Soccer
The magical run for the 2024 Scottsdale women's soccer team came to an end today with a 2-1 loss to St. Charles (MO) at the NJCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championships at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala.
Scottsdale, the No. 8 seed in the tournament, completes the season with a 12-5-1 record. No. 12 St. Charles improved to 16-1-2 and will face No. 1 NW Mississippi for the Pool A title tomorrow.
St. Charles took an early lead with a goal in the 16th minute by Emma Long. Samantha Battles got the Artichokes level in the 22nd minute with a blast past the Cougars keeper. For Battles, it was her 7th goal of the campaign. The Cougars would take the lead for good with a goal from Carlie Holdman in the 62nd minute.
Scottsdale was outshot today 15-11.
Kaydence Manning made six saves in goal.
For SCC the future is bright as the roster holds 21 student athletes set to return next year.
