Baseball Goes 3-0 Over Spring Break

Scottsdale Community College baseball went 3-0 over spring break, scoring double-digit runs in each contest.

SCC defeated Arizona Christian JV 13-5 on March 12 and were led by Chris Ricard's 3-for-5 afternoon. He also scored three runs. Larry Haskins went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored. Dale Fry (3-1) started and recorded the win. He allowed four runs, all earned, on eight hits over 5.1 innings. He fanned five.

The following day the Artichokes scored two runs in the ninth to tie the game at 9-9 and scored two runs in the 10th inning to win 11-10 over Colorado State Club. Logan Krei had three of Scottsdale's nine hits. Brandon Kosel (2-0) picked up the win, tossing 1.0 inning in relief. James Hubbard started and tossed 6.0 innings. He allowed two runs, both earned, on six hits.

Wrapping up the week, Scottsdale defeated fellow NJCAA Division II member Madison 12-2 on March 14. Prince Deboskie and Vinny Angle each had two hits. Deboskie also had two RBI and two runs scored. Jase Johnson (1-0) picked up the win in relief. He tossed 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing only three hits.

Scottsdale's overall record now stands at 14-14 overall. They are 6-10 in the ACCAC. Up next is a trip to face Central Arizona on Tuesday, March 19. Game one of that doubleheader will begin at 11 a.m.
