Deboskie Shines in DH Split with CSI

The Scottsdale Community College Baseball team split a doubleheader with visiting Southern Idaho on Wednesday afternoon.

Game 1 – SCC received a stellar pitching performance from Austin Balmes to defeat CSI 2-1. Balmes (1-0) pitched 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing four hits on two walks and seven strikeouts. Jase Johnson (1) recorded the save. Prince Deboskie had two of the three Artichoke hits during the game.

Game 2 – SCC led 6-3 after four innings, but a 12-run CSI 5th inning was too much to overcome in a 20-9 loss. Ty Coombs (0-1) was charged with loss, coming in relief of starter Dale Fry. Deboskie had three hits, while Chris Ricard and Wil Sevier each had two hits. Deboskie is off to a hot start this season, having hit .667 (10-for-15) through the first five games.

Scottsdale's overall record now stands at 2-3.

SCC will be at home again Thursday, when they host the College of Southern Idaho in a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. Both will be 7-inning affairs.
