Bio

Tasha Washington returned to take over her alma mater, Scottsdale Community College, ahead of the 2019-20 academic year. After leaving Scottsdale, she had a storied career that included All-American Honors at Armstrong Atlantic State University, where she would later be inducted into the Hall of Fame, a professional career in Europe, and years coaching at the 4 year level.

Washington was elevated to head coach after returning to serve 1 year as assistant under legendary coach Bike Medder. Prior to her return, she spent 8 years as an assistant coach between the Junior College and NCAA Division 1 levels including stops at Lincoln Memorial University and the University of North Florida.

During her time at Lincoln Memorial, Washington coached and developed several All-Conference players. That list includes Maranda Boddie, the Railsplitters all-time leader in blocks; Dayshalee Salaman, an honorable mention All-American, and Lincoln Memorial Female Athlete of the Year, who went on to play for the Puerto Rican National Team including appearances in two Olympic Games. Other all conference players include Aisjah Roan, Kalasia Green, and Lauren Cochran.

Tasha broke onto the coaching scene as an assistant coach at here at Scottsdale Community College in 2007. During her 4 years with the program, she coached and developed 3 all conference players, Shayla Washington who would go on to play at DII BYU-Hawaii, as well as Charnise and Charnay Mothershed who would go on to play at DI North Dakota State University.

Prior to coaching, Washington enjoyed a storied playing career that started at Scottsdale Community College where she earned All-Conference and All-Region honors her sophomore season. After graduating from SCC in 2002, she became a two-year starter for DII Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, GA where she helped lead the Pirates to a Peach Belt Conference title in 2003. She was named All-PBC teams in 2003 and 2004 and was named to the Division II Bulletin Fourth-Team All-America and Daktronics All-America Honorable Mention teams in 2004. Washington finished the 2003-04 season ranked 7th in the nation in scoring (21.5) and 5th in steals (3.7). She would score over 1000 points in her two seasons at AASU and become the only player in school history with over 100 assists and steals in a single season. Washington is noted in the AASU career lists in the top-ten of eight different categories and holds the school’s single-season steals record. Her jersey was retired in 2005 and she entered the AASU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016.

After college, the Texas native spent several years playing overseas between Greece and the Netherlands.

Washington, a native of Munday, TX, graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with a degree in broadcast communications. Washington and her husband, Joe, are married with a son, Ciaran.
