Lady Artichokes Break Program Record with 20 Made 3’s vs South Mountain
Scottsdale came back to The Garden after playing the past 4 contests and 8 of the last 10 on the road. It didn't take long for Scottsdale to heat up warmer than the weather outside on a cold, windy night in the East Valley.
The Lady Artichokes jumped out to a 17-0 run spanning the opening 4 minutes before taking a 32-8 lead into the quarter break. SCC continued to pour in 3's during the first half going 12/17 from long range in route to a 55-23 half time lead assisting on 15 of their 18 total makes in the half.
The hot shooting would continue in the second half as Scottsdale would set a single game program record of 20 made 3's in the contest. Balanced scoring was the name of the game as 6 Lady Artichokes finished in double figures and 1 more finished with 9. Freshman, Talia Dial, led the way with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists while fellow freshman Danay Williams added her 7th double-double of the season with 14 ponts and 13 rebounds. Other notables were Amaya Felis with 14 on 4-6 from 3 point range to go with 5 steals; Malia Ukestine who added 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists; Monique Shim with 11 points, 6 rebounds; and Faith Diggs who added 10 points and 7 assists.
Scottsdale will be back in The Garden for Sophomore Night on Saturday, tip slated for 4 pm. The Artichokes will be hosting a WHITE OUT, so make sure to break out that white Artichoke gear.
