Women's Basketball Picks Up Two Wins At Phoenix College Holiday Classic

The Scottsdale Community College Women's Basketball team earned themselves a pair of wins this past week while they played at the Phoenix College Holiday Classic. Scottsdale first took down Justice College in a dominating performance winning by the final score of 123-36. Scottsdale was led by several players in that game with Monique Shim going off for 32 points including 4 made 3's. Malia Ukestine also had a big day scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 steals. Lastly, Talia Dial chipped in 17 points off the bench to help lead the Artichokes to the win. Scottsdale's 2nd game of the classic was canceled due to travel issues, so the Artichokes got the day off and prepared for day 3 of the classic. SCC took on Community Christian College on the final day of the classic, and again came through with a big win by the final score of 75-38. The Artichokes were led again by Monique Shim going for 19 points and 4 rebounds, while Danay Williams came through off the bench with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Faith Diggs rounded things out with 7 points and dished out 10 assists. These wins moves SCC to (6-5, 1-4) on the season with some conference match-ups coming up this week. Scottsdale will host Phoenix College on Wednesday, January 4th at 7:30 PM, then will host Yavapai College on Saturday, January 7th at 4:00 PM.
