Men's Golf Comes In 5th Place At Paradise Valley Invitational

The Scottsdale Community College Men's Golf team shot a second round team score of 300 that put them in the middle of the pack at the Paradise Valley Invitational.

The Fighting Artichokes started the day in 5th place overall and managed to improve their day 1 scores by 10 strokes, but it was not enough to climb the leaderboard. Scottsdale was led in day 2 by Rayce Mathews (FR/Payson, AZ) who shot a 1-under 71 and a two-day total of 150. Matthew Creighton (SO/Des Moines, IA) had a good showing shooting a 78 to have a two-day total of 151. Alex Kling (FR/Scottsdale, AZ) had a solid 2nd day as he shot a 74 to give him a two-day total of 152. Sam Nelson (FR/Scottsdale, AZ) shot a 77 to give him a two-day total of 161. Ryan Simpson (FR/Harpers Ferry, WV) shot a 91 to give him a 171 over the tow days, and Morgan Boltz (FR/Clovis, CA) shot a 107 to give him a total of 218. Scottsdale will finish in 5th place overall in the Regional standings, so unfortunately they will not participate as a team at the final Regional event. However, some of the individual players for the Artichokes may still qualify and if they do, they will play in a 4-day tournament that runs from April 29th until May 2nd at Gold Canyon Golf Resort.
