Artichokes Have Solid Outing at South Mountain Classic

The Scottsdale Community College Men's Golf team had anoter solid performance this week as they participated in the South Mountain Classic at the Legacy Golf Club in Phoenix, AZ.

The Fighting Artichokes were in 6th place overall after day one of the tournament with a team score of 303. For day two of the tournament the Artichokes slipped a little and shot a team score of 306 but still finished in 6th place. SCC was led this tournament by Matthew Creighton (SO/Des Moines, IA) that shot (73, 74) for his two-day total of 147. Alex Kling (FR/Scottsdale, AZ) came through for SCC with rounds of (75, 75) and a two-day total of 150. Rayce Mathews (FR/Payson, AZ) (78, 78) and Sam Nelson (FR/Scottsdale, AZ) (77, 79) both rounded out the team score with two-day totals of 156. Ryan Simpson (FR/Harpers Ferry, WV) improved once again for the Artichokes shooting (85, 83) for a two-day total of 168. Morgan Boltz (FR/Clovis, CA) finshed the tournament with a two-day score of 229 (110, 119). Scottsdale will have one regular season match left as they head over to Gainey Ranch Golf Club on April 19th and 20th for the conference tournament hosted by Paradise Valley Community College.
