The Scottsdale Community College Men's Golf team put themselves in contention after day 1 of the Pima Community College Inivitational held at Randolph Golf Club.

The Fighting Artichokes shot a team score 304 and are within striking distance of the top of the team leaderboard. SCC was led today by Alex Kling (FR/Scottsdale, AZ) who shot a 1-under 71. Matthew Creighton (SO/Des Moines, IA) shot an even-par 72, while Sam Nelson (FR/Scottsdale, AZ) shot a 77. Rayce Mathews (FR/Payson, AZ) rounded out the team score with a 84. Ryan Simpson (FR/Harpers Ferry, WV) shot a 92 and Morgan Boltz (FR/Clovis, CA) shot a 114 to close out the day. Scottsdale will play in the late pairings tomorrow and look to finish strong.
