The 15th ranked Scottsdale Community College Men's Basketball team went on the road Saturday and brought back a hard fought double-overtime victory over NJCAA D1 Arizona Western College. Scottsdale had a rough shooting night from just about everyone on the roster shooting just a 29.9% from the field, but their defense and intensity kept them in the game. Scottsdale was down 32-26 at the half and AWC kept the lead for most of the 2nd half until the Artichokes began to crawl back into the game. Scottsdale would go up by 1 point under 3 minutes to play and would have the last shot in a tie game at the end of regulation. Carson Kelly would miss the  shot and the game went to overtime with the score tied 58-58. SCC and AWC would both stall on offense in the 1st overtime period, but Scottsdale would take a 2 point lead with 3 seconds to play. A foul on a made basket with 1 second remaining put the Matadors on the free-throw line to secure the game, but Scottsdale would survive on the missed shot and move on to the 2nd overtime. Tyree Tyler would lead the Artichokes in the 2nd overtime period scoring 6 of his 17 points in that 5 minute stretch. SCC would eventually win by the final score of 76-73 and escape with the conference victory. Scottsdale was led by Carson Kelly who finished with 18 points and 9 rebounds, while Cameron Faas would go for 17 points and 7 rebounds. Tyree Tyler would finsh the game with 17 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Artichokes. Scottsdale now moves to (17-4, 9-4) overall on the season with two big home games this week. Scottsdale will host NJCAA D2 #16 Pima Community College on Wednesday at 5:30 PM and then will host NJCAA D1 Eastern Arizona College on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
