BASEBALL DROPS TWO TO SCOTTSDALE

Puma Baseball (9-7) dropped two one-run games to Scottsdale.

Tuesday, February 14: PVCC 3, SCC 4 (8)

The Pumas lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat to SCC.

The Pumas got things moving in the first inning when Ty Cowan singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.  The game was tied at three with the Artichokes batting in the bottom of the sixth when a single by the Chokes scored one run to give them the lead.
 
Jackson Brenna was on the mound for the Pumas. The lefthander lasted four innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out four. Tomas UrbinaAdam Koski, and Luke Dickson each contributed in relief for the Pumas.

The Pumas racked up seven hits. Cowan and Jonny Garber each managed two hits to lead the team offensively.

Thursday, February 16: PVCC 2, SCC 3 (13)

The Pumas stayed in it until the end, but SCC pulled away late in a 3-2 victory. The game was tied at two with SCC batting in the top of the thirteenth when the Artichokes hit a solo homer to take a 3-2 lead.

The pitching was strong on both sides. SCC pitchers struck out 13, while the Pumas sat 16.

The Pumas knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Chaz Clemons singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Mason Brunson was on the mound for the Pumas. The lefty lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one. Liam O'Brien and Logan Birch entered the game from the bullpen, throwing seven innings and one-third inning respectively.

The Pumas socked one home run on the day when Carson Craig put one out in the fifth.

Rob Liddington led the team with two hits in five at bats. The Pumas didn't commit a single error in the field. Cole Williams had the most chances in the field with 17.
