18th Straight Win For Central-It's A Pair Of 10-2 Blowouts In Sweep Of Scottsdale

Blade-Vaquero Baseball Beat

(Scottsdale) - The Central Arizona steamroller kept on rolling Monday afternoon in Scottsdale with a couple of big wins, both of them by finals of 10-2. That should tell you the bats are steaming and the arms are rolling as the Vaqueros won their 18th straight baseball game.

Longball twice for Marcus Harrison as he had five rbi's on the afternoon in going 3-8, and scored three times.

And talk about steamrolling.

Luke Thiele collected three more hits, including a double to get that BA up to .446, catcher Lou Albrecht is still hot as he had two more hits and drove in three in the first game, and second game catcher Blake Young tripled in a run.

It's just so tough as an opponent to keep your head in there when Central Arizona does so much damage early on. Scoring four in the top inning of the first game, and then scoring three more in the top of the second game can be so demoralizing. And you don't win many baseball games when you're demoralized, Scottsdale has dropped three in a row but still is hanging in there, middle of the pack in the ACCAC.

Central pounded three homers in the second game, Harrison's, Blake Avila and Fisher Pyatt ripped long ones.

After leading the NJCAA in walks on March first, Avila hasn't had a walk in eight games and is still tied for fourth with 29 currently, but has seen his average climb from .236 to .268.

Trading walks for hits Blakester?

That's fine with us...but we all enjoyed the 21 walks you had in February!

Avila had five hits including the bomb (with no walks) in the doubleheader, this time in the leadoff spot and playing right field.

"Offensively, we're still moving a lot of guys around. Different positions and spots in the order to try and find what works best" said the head coach Anthony Gilich.

In my head, what works great is actually "moving guys around in different positions in the order" as the man said. The men are on an 18 game winning streak using this strategy!

But, to get technical, the coach said "what works best", not "what works great."

Higher hopes!

"We're excited how the bullpen has been throwing. We have been using a lot of guys and it is fun to see them having some success" continued Gilich.

All in all, Michael Trausch, Ryan Schiefer, Jack Seward and Cam Demos all made effective appearances Monday. Theo Millas won his sixth game in the opener, and Tommy Brandenburg won his third game in the afternoon-cap.

"JP (Joe Perez pictured), JoJo (Howie pictured) and IO (Isaiah Overman-head showing) are killing it. Doing a great job getting their guys ready" Gilich glowed as he spoke about his coaches yet again.

Nothing would thrill me more than to hear the head coach say "Offensively, we're still moving a lot of guys around. Different positions and spots in the order to try and find what works best" if it's in June if you know what I'm saying.

When I mentioned this to the old boy, he smiled quickly.

"Yeah it keeps them on their toes."

All in all, what does that tell you about this team?
