WALTERS VOLLEYBALL GOES 1-1 ON FIRST DAY OF NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

The Lady Senator volleyball squad took their first match of the 2023 NJCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament over Lansing Community College 3-0, but fell to Scottsdale Community College in the nightcap 3-1.  alters now falls to the consolation bracket where they will face Rock Valley College today.

In their first match against Lansing, they won all three games in close fashion 25-20, 25-20, and 25-17.  Mattie Davis and Catherine Sweeney led the squad with six kills while Alyssa Campbell and Maddie Rockrohr each had five.  Olivia Brown and Allison Singleton led the team with 14 and 12 assists.  Jaci Drinnon and Lauren Sims were the leaders in digs with19 and 14, respectively.  Brown had five service aces while Campbell had three in the match.  Sweeney was credited with five solo blocks.

In the match against the #2 seed Scottsdale squad, the Lady Senators lost the match as their opponent took the first two games 25-11 and 25-13 before te Lady Senators took the third game 25-22.  Scottsdale took the fourth set 25-16 for th win.  Campbell and Mims led the team with 16 and 11 kills whileBrown had 24 assists.  Drinnon had 27 digs while Mims and Brown had 13 and 10 in the match.  Brown also had four service aces while Singleton had three.
