Sophomore Kayla Pettet recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds as the South Mountain Community College women's basketball team lost 73-38 to Scottsdale CC in a home ACCAC contest on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Sophomore Hailey Connor added 10 points, and sophomore Miriam Traore led all players with 13 rebounds.
Pettet's 11 points represented a new career high as she totaled four field goals and three free throws in 31 minutes. Connor made three field goals and four free throws to finish with 10 points and added three rebounds, one assist, and two steals in 39 minutes. Traore grabbed a season-high 13 boards, with five coming on the offensive glass. She finished with eight points courtesy of three field goals and two free throws.
Freshman Mimi Miller posted six points, eight rebounds, one assist, and two steals in 34 minutes, and freshman Janae Byrd had two points, three rebounds, one assist, and three steals. Freshman Carissa Collier added four rebounds, two steals and a free throw in 31 minutes.
