PUMA SOFTBALL FALLS TO SCOTTSDALE

Puma Softball (2-5) fell to Scottsdale CC on Tuesday in two close games.

Game 1: PVCC 0, SCC 3

In game one of the double header, the Pumas watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 3-0 loss to SCC.

The pitching was strong on both sides. The Artichokes pitchers struck out three, while the Pumas sat down four.

In the first inning, SCC got their offense started when they scored one on a single. That was all the Artichokes needed as the Puma offense was not able to score any runs. One bright spot offensively for the Pumas was a double by Maegan Viramontes in the first inning.

Dawn Morris was in the circle for Pumas. Morris lasted six innings, allowing 10 hits and three runs while striking out four and walking one.

Maegan Viramontes and Taniyah LaDrigue each collected one hit to lead the team offensively, Defensively, the Pumas were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Monika Rodriguez had the most chances in the field with five.

Game 2: PVCC 7, SCC 11

Game two of the double header started off similarly to game one when the Pumas got down early and couldn't recover in an 11-7 loss to SCC.

The Pumas collected nine hits and the Artichokes had 13 in the high-scoring affair.

SCC knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning. After the Pumas scored two runs in the top of the fifth, SCC answered with two of their own. The Pumas scored when Estevannie Rojas doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs

Holly Myers was in the circle for the Pumas. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits and striking out two. Angelique Aguayo and Jazlyn Romero entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one-third inning respectively.

The Pumas launched two home runs on the day. Both Taniyah LaDrigue and Rojas went yard in the fourth inning.

The Pumas tallied nine hits. LaDrigue and Rojas both had multiple hits for the Pumas. LaDrigue led the team with three hits in three at bats.
