The Scottsdale Community College softball program wrapped up their regular season this past week, splitting a doubleheader at home last Tuesday vs. Paradise Valley. The Artichokes were then swept at Chandler-Gilbert on Saturday.

Scottsdale completed the regular season 20-26 overall, 16-22 in the ACCAC.

SCC now moves into the NJCAA Division II Region I playoffs. It is their first trip into the postseason in over a decade. The Artichokes earned the No. 4 seed in the four-team tournament.

The top seed in the tournament is Phoenix College. They posted a 31-5 league record this season and went 4-0 against the Artichokes. South Mountain will be the No. 2 seed after recording a 21-15 conference mark. They swept SCC in all four of their meetings. Chandler-Gilbert enters the postseason as the No. 3 seed and had a 21-17 conference record. They went 3-1 against SCC this season.

The tournament will be double elimination and will run from May 9-11. Phoenix College will host every game of the tournament.

Scottsdale will open play on May 9 with a matchup with No. 1 seed Phoenix College. South Mountain and Chandler-Gilbert will also meet that day. Full schedule with times are listed below. 

NJCAA Division II Region I Softball Playoff Format (double elimination): 

Game 1 - #2 South Mountain vs. #3 Chandler-Gilbert - Thursday 1 p.m.

Game 2 - #1 Phoenix vs. #4 Scottsdale - Thursday 4 p.m.

Game 3 – Loser 1 vs. Loser 2 - Friday 10 a.m.

Game 4 – Winner 1 vs. Winner 2 - Friday 1 p.m.

Game 5 – Winner 3 vs. Loser 4 - Friday 4 p.m.

Game 6 – Winner 4 vs. Winner 5 - Saturday 1 p.m. 

Game 7 – If necessary game – Saturday 4 p.m.
