Artichokes Make Final Push for Playoff Spot

Scottsdale Community College softball was swept this past weekend at Phoenix College, yet remain in strong contention to earn the school's first playoff bid in over 10 years.

Scottsdale holds a conference record of 13-17 and is in fourth place in the ACCAC. The top four finishing Division II schools will advance to the NJCAA Region I playoffs that begin on May 9. SCC is currently five games ahead of fifth-place Glendale with only eight games remaining in the regular season. PC is first at 26-4, followed by South Mountain (17-13) and Chandler-Gilbert (15-15).  

Scottsdale will travel this Tuesday to face second-place South Mountain. The Cougars swept the Artichokes on March 9 at SCC by scores of 9-3 and 2-1. The doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m.

The Artichokes will close out the week with a doubleheader at Mesa. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12 p.m. SCC swept the Thunderbirds at home on April 6 by scores of 10-0 and 10-8.
