SCC Drops Pair to Pima; Levandowski Earns Second Player of the Week Award

The Scottsdale Community College softball team dropped a doubleheader this past weekend at home against Pima.

Pima took the opening game 9-5, building an 8-1 lead in the fifth inning en route to the win. Adrian Armstrong (11-6) started and took the loss for SCC. The Artichokes had six hits for the game, including home runs from Sydnee Levandowski, Bailey Dominguez and Kimberly Hernandez.

Pima held the Artichokes to one hit in game two, leading to a 10-0 five inning win. Isabelle Aguirre (2-8) took the loss. Bailey Nichols had Scottsdale's lone hit. For Pima, it was there 24th straight win.

Scottsdale now stands at 16-18 overall and 12-14 in the conference. Despite the sweep, SCC remains in third place in the ACCAC Division II standings. The top four earn a spot in the NJCAA Region I playoffs.

Up next for SCC is a doubleheader at home vs. Glendale on April 16. The first game of the doubleheader is 12 p.m.  The Artichokes swept the Gauchos on March 16 at GCC.

Also last week, Levandowski was named the ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for week 10. She had three home runs and 13 RBI during the week. It is Levandowski's second time earning the award this season.
