Baseball Walks Off South Mountain

The Scottsdale Community College baseball team rallied for an 8-6 win yesterday at home against South Mountain, picking up a critical split of the two-game set.

SCC led 6-2 after five innings, before the Cougars rallied to tie the game in the ninth. SCC plated two in the ninth for the walk-off win.

Dylan Noah had three hits, including a home run and four RBI. Hank Smith also had three hits.

Jase Johnson (2-1) picked up the win in relief of starting pitcher James Hubbard.

The game wraps up the Artichokes' tour through the ACCAC Division I programs. SCC posted a 6-8 mark, one of their best in recent years.

The return series against the Division II programs begins this Friday, when SCC hosts Gateway at 3 p.m. They will play at Gateway on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.

SCC is currently 10-16 in league play and in a tie for third place with 12 conference games remaining. They are four games back of first place and three games back of second place.
