Baseball Rebounds with Three Wins in the Midweek

The Scottsdale Community College baseball team rebounded for three straight wins in the midweek.

First up was a doubleheader sweep of Division I ACCAC member Eastern Arizona on Tuesday at SCC. In the opening game Scottsdale put up five runs in the second inning and four more in the forth in the 11-7 victory. Chris Ricard went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Elijah Morales went 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored. Dale Fry (4-1) recorded the win, while Reed Lellbach (1) picked up the save.  

In game two, the Artichokes jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and held on for a 7-6 win. Prince Deboskie homered and had three RBI. James Hubbard (1-2) tossed 7.0 innings in getting the win. He allowed four unearned runs on seven hits. Jase Johnson (3) entered the game in the ninth to pick up the save.

SCC closed out the midweek with a 10-1 win on Wednesday against Benedictine JV at SCC. Scottsdale limited BenU hitters to only four hits on the day. Ben Ruckman (2-3) started and tossed 3.0 scoreless innings to record the win. Tyler Hansen allowed a run on only one hit in 3.0 innings of relief. Chris Gaudio and Ty Coombs closed things out. Zach Butler led the offense with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Dylan Noah had two hits and four RBI. Ruckman added two hits.

SCC is now 17-18 overall and 8-14 in the ACCAC.

They continue down the ACCAC Division I opponent path with a trip to Pima this Saturday. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m.
