Softball Swept by EAC; Larson, Armstrong Earn Conference Honors

The Scottsdale Community College softball team was swept by Eastern Arizona yesterday at home.

In game one SCC jumped out to a 3-1 lead after two innings. Eastern would counter with four runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth and six in the sixth for the 12-3 win in six innings. Mackenzie Larson had two of Scottsdale's four hits. Sara Mann-Burton had two RBI. Isabelle Aguirre started and took the loss.

Eastern Arizona never trailed in game two, leading them to a 9-1 win in five innings. SCC's Nina Slater had two of the Artichokes five hits. Adriana Armstrong went the distance on the mound for SCC.

SCC is now 8-12 overall and 4-8 in the conference.

Scottsdale did bring home week 7 honors as Larson was named the ACCAC Division II Player of the Week. She went 5-for-8 with a double and home run in the Artichokes sweep of Glendale this past Saturday. Armstrong picked up Pitcher of the Week honors after picking up wins in both games of the GCC doubleheader.

Scottsdale travels to Central Arizona this Saturday for a doubleheader. The first game begins at 12 p.m. Central Arizona is 11-6 overall this season.
