Softball Records Critical Sweep at Glendale

The Scottsdale Community College softball team picked up a critical sweep at Glendale this past Saturday.

The Artichokes jumped out to a 4-1 lead after two innings, only to see GCC take a 5-4 lead after five innings. SCC would tie the game at 5-5 in the sixth and then explode for four runs in the 8th inning to win 9-5 in the opener. Mackenzie Larson went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and a RBI. Sydnee Levandowski also had three hits, with three RBI and two runs scored. Adriana Armstrong (5-3) picked up the win in relief. She tossed 2.0 scoreless innings.

In the nightcap, SCC launched three home runs to win 12-9. The Artichokes picked up where they left off in the opener, taking a 4-0 lead after the first inning. GCC would get within 5-4 after three innings. SCC led 9-4 before a five-run Gaucho fifth tied things at 9-9. Scottsdale secured the win and sweep with two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh. Larson, Nina Slater and Bailey Dominguez homered for SCC. Larson, Dominguez, Meadow Owens and Sara Mann-Burton each had two hits. Armstrong (6-3) went the distance to record her second win of the day.

SCC is now 8-10 overall and 4-6 in the ACCAC.

They will host ACCAC Division I member Eastern Arizona tomorrow, with the first game of the doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
