Women's Basketball Falls Short in Region Final

The Scottsdale women's basketball saw its season come to an end this evening, falling 52-49 at Mesa in the NJCAA Division II Region I Final.

Scottsdale held a 14-12 lead after one, only to see Mesa rebound to take a 25-23 lead at the half. Mesa would increase that lead to 38-32 after three quarters. Scottsdale opened the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 42-38 advantage. MCC used a 7-0 run to pull ahead, a lead they would not relinquish. Down three, Scottsdale had a chance to tie the game, but their 3-point attempt at the buzzer rimmed out.

Danay Williams led SCC with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Ella Hoover added 14 points, including a 3-for-6 night from behind the arc. Talia Dial had 10 points.

The loss ends the Artichokes season with an overall record of 18-12.
