The Scottsdale women's basketball team used a strong second half to defeat Pima 49-43 in the NJCAA Division II Region I Semifinals tonight in Tucson, Ariz.

Trailing 27-25 midway through the third, the Artichokes went on 10-2 run to lead 35-29, a lead they would never relinquish. Pima evened the game at 35, but SCC scored the next five to reestablish their lead. Pima would get within two late, but SCC made their free throws and came up with stops to close out the win.

The win is extra sweet for SCC, having dropped all three regular season games to Pima.

With the win, Scottsdale improves to 18-11 overall. 

Up next is the NJCAA Division II Region I Final to be played on Saturday against Mesa Community College at MCC. Tipoff is schedule for 7 p.m. Like Pima earlier, Mesa swept the regular season series 3-0.
