Baseball Splits With Mesa

The Scottsdale baseball team split their weekend series with Mesa this week.

On Friday the bats came alive for the Artichokes in a 15-9 win over the Thunderbirds. They compiled 18 hits in the win. Drake Khamis led the way with four hits, including a home run. Prince Deboskie, Kyle Neefe and Hank Smith had three hits. Deboskie and Neefe added home runs. Tyler Child (1-1) started and picked up the win. He allowed five earned runs on eight hits over 5.0 innings.

Saturday was much different as pitching was the theme of the day in Mesa's 3-1 win over Scottsdale. Deboskie collected two hits for SCC, his 13th multi-hit game of the season. Tyler Coombs started, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings on five hits. Wyatt Haught (1-1) relieved Coombs and was charged with the loss.

Scottsdale is currently 8-12 overall and 4-8 in the ACCAC.

The road will not get any easier as Scottsdale enters the ACCAC DI – DII part of the schedule. Up first will be a visit from Yavapai on Tuesday, March 5. That doubleheader will start at 12 p.m.

All SCC regular season home games for 2023-24 are free of charge. However, any donation is welcome and will help the department navigate our current financial landscape.
