Everything to Play For as Women's Hoops Closes Out Regular Season

The Scottsdale women's basketball team heads into the home stretch of the season with two games remaining on its schedule, both on the road.

First up is a trip to Glendale this Saturday to face the Gauchos at 2 p.m. The season will conclude next Monday with a game at Central Arizona. Tipoff for that one is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The Artichokes (16-10, 12-9) are in a good run of form lately, just having their five-game win streak snapped on Wednesday in a close battle with Pima. Looking towards the postseason, Scottsdale is locked into the No. 3 seed for Region I Playoffs. They know they will face either Pima or Mesa in the semifinal round, depending on how those two teams finish out their regular seasons.

While the Artichokes have fallen short in each of its three meetings this season with both Pima and Mesa, all were tightly contested with the result in doubt late. This among other reasons gives Scottsdale optimism with the tournament around the corner.

Danay Williams, who was named the ACCAC Week 16 Player-of-the-Week this past week, has averaged 12.7 point per game this season and also has a team-best 9.2 rebounds per game. Talia Dial is averaging 15.0 ppg to lead all scorers.
