Fourth Quarter Propels Mesa Past Scottsdale

No. 6 Mesa outscored the Scottsdale Community College Women's Basketball team 19-9 in the fourth quarter to win 60-45 tonight at SCC.

Mesa led 14-8 after the first quarter, hitting two 3-pointers in the final minute to give them their advantage. The Thunderbirds led by as many as 13 in the second quarter at 25-12, before SCC chipped away to close the gap to 31-22 at the break.  The Artichokes cut the deficit to 41-36 after three quarters.

Makeylei Snyder led Scottsdale with 14 points. It was her sixth game scoring in double digits this season.  

The loss drops the Artichokes to 8-6 overall and 4-5 in the ACCAC. SCC trails both Pima and Mesa by 2.5 games in the ACCAC Division II race.

Scottsdale will next be in action on Saturday, January 20 when they travel to face Chandler-Gilbert. The Coyotes defeated the Artichokes 71-67 on Dec. 16 in the first of three meetings this season. That game will tip at 2 p.m.
