Men's Basketball Snap Five-Game Skid with Win Over MCC

The Scottsdale Community College Men's Basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak with an 81-68 win over Mesa today at MCC.

The Artichokes never trailed in the game and led by as many 13 on two occasions in the opening half, leading 42-31 at the break. SCC made 6 three-pointers in the opening half and outrebounded the Thunderbirds 18-12. Scottsdale's lead never dipped below double digits in the second half and at one point grew the advantage to 23, 71-48 with 8:01 left in the game.

King Turner produced a double-double for SCC with 17 points on 5-for-8 shooting and 12 rebounds. David Aysho added 13 on 6-for-9 shooting.

Scottsdale shot 50% from the floor on 30-for 60 shooting. It was their fourth game this season shooting 50% or better and first since Nov. 28 vs. Yavapai. SCC also had a 36-26 advantage on the glass.

The Artichokes improved to 8-5 overall and evened their conference record at 4-4.

Scottsdale and Mesa will meet for the second-straight game when the Thunderbirds visit SCC on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
