Volleyball Opens With Walters State at NJCAA Championships

No. 2 seed Scottsdale has learned its opponent for their opening match of the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. No. 18 Walters State (TN) swept No. 15 Lansing (MI) 3-0 earlier this morning and will now face the Artichokes tonight at 6:30 p.m. (AZ time).

The tournament is being held at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena from Nov. 15-18.

Cowley (KS) earned the tournament's No. 1 overall seed. Also receiving the opening match bye were No. 3 Parkland (IL) and No. 4 Johnson County (KS).

Scottsdale has become a familiar face at the national tournament, having gone in its previous four seasons of competition (SCC did not compete in 2020 due to Covid restrictions). In 2019, SCC claimed the national title and were the national runners up last season.

The Artichokes are fresh off their second consecutive undefeated regular season and unlike last season, will enter the national tournament without a blemish on its record, standing at 24-0.
