Artichokes Earn No. 2 Seed at NJCAA Volleyball Championships

Scottsdale has earned the No. 2 seed for the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The tournament will be held at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena from Nov. 15-18.

This year the tournament was expanded from 16 teams to 20 teams. With that, the top four seeds received an opening match bye. The Artichokes' first match will be at 6:30 p.m. (AZ time) on Nov. 15, when they will face the winner of the match between No. 15 Lansing (MI) and No. 18 Walters State (TN). Those two will meet earlier in the day at 10 a.m. (AZ time).

Cowley (KS) earned the tournament's No. 1 overall seed. Also receiving the opening match bye were No. 3 Parkland (IL) and No. 4 Johnson County (KS).

Scottsdale has become a familiar face at the national tournament, having gone in its previous four seasons of competition (SCC did not compete in 2020 due to Covid restrictions). In 2019, SCC claimed the national title and were the national runners up last season.

The Artichokes are fresh off their second consecutive undefeated regular season and unlike last season, will enter the national tournament without a blemish on its record, standing at 24-0.
