SCC Captures Region Title for Fourth Consecutive Season

The top-seeded Scottsdale Volleyball program claimed its fourth consecutive NJCAA Region 1 Division II title with a 3-0 victory over No. 4 seed Glendale tonight on the campus of SCC.  

The Artichokes opened the match strong, taking the opening set 25-12. SCC remained in control of the match, winning the second and third sets by scores of 25-19.  Sophomore Macee Lesueur was named the tournaments Most Valuable Player.

Scottsdale's overall record improved to 24-0.

SCC now advances to the NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The tournament has expanded from 16 teams to 20 teams this year and will be contested Nov. 15-18 at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena. The Artichokes won the national title in 2019 and were national runners-up last season. The draw for the tournament will take place Thursday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. (AZ time).

NOTE - SCC did not have a season in 2020 due to MCCCDs Covid protocols that did not allow indoor sports in the District to compete. SCC did win the Region in '19, 21, '22 and now '23.
