Volleyball Makes Quick Work of the Bears; Davis Named Offensive Player of the Week

The No. 2 ranked Scottsdale Volleyball program wasted little time tonight in dispatching Phoenix College 3-0 at Scottsdale Gymnasium.

The Artichokes won the match with set scores of 25-9, 25-3, 25-4.

The win improves the Artichokes to 20-0 overall and 15-0 in the ACCAC. It was also the 39th consecutive regular season win for SCC. Scottsdale's last regular season loss occurred on Oct. 29, 2021.

After the game, SCC honored its seven departing sophomores. The class of Rylee Wengert, Macee Lesueur,  Cayla Gaxiola, Tahlia Backos, Kamilah Anderson, McKenna Dressel and Lupe Pulotu have left a defining mark in the classroom and on the floor.

Also, prior to the match, Taryn Davis was named the ACCAC Division II Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 15-21. Davis recorded 62 assists and eight kills in two wins over Arizona Western and Pima. It was her second award of the season.

The Artichokes will wrap up their regular season on Friday when Chandler-Gilbert visits Scottsdale. Earlier this season, SCC defeated the Coyotes in a 5-set thriller. In that match, CGCC won the first two sets, before Scottsdale roared back for the win.
