Men's Soccer Picks Up 7 Points

The Scottsdale men's soccer program secured a critical 7 points over its previous three matches to remain in contention for an NJCAA Region I playoff berth.

On Sept. 16 the Artichokes hosted Gateway and secured their first win the season, a 6-1 victory over the Geckos. Sebi Demark netted two goals for SCC. The Artichokes finished the match with 22 shots, 12 of which were on frame.

On Sept. 19 the Artichokes played to 3-3 draw at Paradise Valley. SCC held leads of 2-0 and 3-2, before the Pumas equalized in the final minute of the match. Nathanial Rodriguez scored twice for Scottsdale.

On Sept. 23 SCC defeated Chandler-Gilbert 5-0. Darak Rittmueller and Luka Tomasevic each posted two goals. Rittmueller's two strikes came off beautifully taken free kicks. Ryan Johnsen had the clean sheet in goal for the Artichokes.

Scottsdale now sits at 2-6-2 overall and 2-3-1 in conference. Up next will be a critical conference match at Mesa on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.
