With a few scrimmages under their belts, the men's and women's soccer programs, along with volleyball, will get started for real this week.

The Artichokes volleyball team, ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA preseason poll, will begin their campaign on Thursday, Aug. 17 with a home match against Ottawa JV, beginning at 7 p.m. The team is coming off a wildly successful 2022 season which they were the NJCAA National Runners-up, completing the year with a 26-2 record. Additionally, SCC went 15-0 in conference play. The next day on Aug. 18, volleyball will host their annual alumni match at 7 p.m. and then host Yavapai in the first conference match of the season on Monday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m.

The SCC men's and women's soccer programs also get started on Aug. 17, when they travel to Phoenix College where they will face the No. 1 ranked PC women's team and No. 4 ranked Bears men's team. The women will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the men following 20 minutes after the conclusion of the opening match. Both teams will host Johnson County Community College (KS) on Sunday, Aug. 20. The women get started at 8 a.m., with the men following 20 minutes after their conclusion.  The SCC women's program finished third in the ACCAC last season, being eliminated in the NJCAA Region I Semifinals at Pima CC. Overall, the Artichokes finished with a 12-5 record. The SCC men finished in a tie for fifth in the ACCAC, going 6-9 overall.
