Late Cold Spell Dooms Men's Hoops

The Scottsdale men's basketball team dropped a 67-63 decision to Columbia Basin (WA) tonight in the Thunderbird Classic at MCC.

The loss drops the Artichokes to 0-2.

Scottsdale opened a 52-41 lead with just over 11 minutes to go in the second half. However, a five-minute scoring drought late in the half allowed the Hawks to grab a 60-54 lead with 3:30 left in the game. SCC closed within 2 with 1:55 left but could get no closer.

Zach Anderson led SCC with 12 points. Jaevyn Yancey had nine rebounds.

The Artichokes will be back in action again tomorrow as they close out the Thunderbird Classic at MCC with a game against Morton College (IL). Tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
